STAN TUER TANKARD JUNE & JULY OUTINGS 2026
I have always pointed out that low air pressure areas to the west of Scotland has had a detrimental effect on our fishing nights and that is why I was reluctant to put out a report on the June night which seemed to reflect that theory, particularly regarding rainbows.
The June night saw eleven rods record just five fish for the weigh-in. In the absence of first night leader Willie (Chick) Sutherland, there was a chance for someone else to take his place spot.
The only member to get his 2 fish limit was Alan Pett for 4lb 9ozs with other rods getting one apiece, with the best fish of the night to Alan’s rod at 2lb 15ozs.
The leader board after round two, saw Alan leapfrog Willie with a total of 3 fish for 7lb 11ozs, next Willie’s at 5lb 9ozs and James Wilson 3rd at 4lb 9ozs.
The July night was such a contrast to previous outings, with a mild south westerly breeze and with good prospects after an earlier stocking two weeks previously. The eight members present, had action almost immediately with knocks and offers and tales of lost fish, but only 6 fish were recorded in what was a fustrating night. Best on the night was Alan Pett with his two fish for 4lbs 13ozs and next was James Wilson with his two fish for 4lbs exactly. Best fish of the night at 3lbs was to Michael Banks.
So the overall standings for the Stan Tuer Tankard are as follows:
Alan Pett with 5 fish for 12lbs 8ozs, runner-up with 4 fish for 8lb 9ozs James Wilson and third Willie Sutherland with 3 fish for 7lb 9ozs.
Best fish over the three nights was Willie Sutherland’s @ 3lb 7ozs with Alan Pett runner-up @ 3lb 2ozs.
The 3 evening winners W Sutherland (May) and Alan Pett for the June & July nights.
Yet another Stan Tuer year over and some really good quality fish to boot. Roll on next year!!
