THE STAN TUER TANKARD 1^st LEG MAY 2026

The first outing of the above was changed from the first Friday night of May to the next day (Sat) pm as a result of previous years misgivings about weather ( cold, driech & windy conditions) which in theory, being an afternoon start should have given us somewhat milder conditions etc.

So much for theory, we still had a cold and very wet start to proceedings and prospects of a better catch dwindled as the afternoon went on.

Despite the weather we had 13 hardy members turn up to a much reduced car park area, and all were unconcerned at the increased cost of the entry fee (due to restocking costs) and paid for the three outings in advance. Very much appreciated indeed.

Members were well scattered around the loch, looking for sheltered areas in which to tempt the quarry. The majority of the fish were caught in the earlier part of afternoon with rising fish very few and far between. The two fish limit was strictly adhered to.

At the weigh-in, the best basket was Willie (chick) Sutherland with his two fish for 5lbs 9ozs, next was James Wilson’s two fish for 4lbs 9ozs and in third place was Wilf Hadley with his two fish for 4lbs 1ozs.

The heaviest fish was Willie’s at 3lbs 7ozs. Second best fish was Alan Pett’s at 3lbs 2ozs, with James Wilson third at 2lb 7ozs.

All in all 11 fish were recorded, not a bad return given the weather.
